Técnica quirúrgica

Las fracturas por  compresión pueden ser muy dolorosas.
Dos técnicas que están disponibles para restaurar algo de la altura del cuerpo vertebral  en una fractura-compresión, reducen el dolor en un 80-90% de los casos.
Ambas técnicas (vertebroplastia y cifoplastia) consisten en inyectar  un cemento en el cuerpo vertebral fracturado.
Con la vertebroplastia el cemento se inyecta en el cuerpo vertebral fracturado, mientras que con la cifoplastia, el cuerpo vertebral se reduce primero, por el uso de un globo en cada lado del cuerpo vertebral, evitando la retropulsion en el canal espinal.
Además, en la vertebroplastia se utiliza un cemento de menor viscosidad por lo que la incidencia de la salida del cemento es más alta en comparación con la cifoplastia.

El uso de la cifoplastia por ser mucho más caro que la vertebroplastia no está justificada para las fracturas por compresión simples con deformidades de menor importancia.

La cifoplastia pretende la:
Reducción del dolor
Reducción y estabilización de la fractura

Restauración de la altura vertebral
Reducción de la deformidad espinal.

Ambos procedimientos se realizan bajo control Rx. Se incide la piel en la parte posterior en el nivel apropiado.
Puede ser utilizado en más de un nivel.
 




1.colocación de un alambre guía; 2 inserción de cánula de trabajo; 3 Perforación canal; 4 inflado de los globos, e inyección 5 del polymetilmetacrilato.
